This was my first visit to this office so I went in with an open mind. My appointment was set at 10am, but of course as a first time patient they have you fill out paperwork and then they verify the insurance so I knew there would be a delay. I got called in after 30 minutes of waiting just to get weighed, get my blood pressure checked & get asked some questions. While she was taking my blood pressure, she was asking me questions, which in turn made my blood pressure high! I thought you were supposed to be relaxed and quiet while having your BP taken...duh! So I went back into the waiting area and waited for another 30-40 minutes and was finally called into a room where I waited another 10-15 minutes. The PA I saw was very nice and Dr. Diaz only went into the room for literally 2-3 minutes (man, he makes a quick buck!) The PA checked my blood pressure again (relaxed this time and no talking) and it was normal. I also had my blood drawn by one of the worst phlebotomist ever! I have been getting my blood drawn since I was 10 (because I have hypothyroidism) so I know who's good and who's not. They also had the wrong birthdate on my paperwork and the lady up front said that it was my fault because my '0' looked like a '2'! They were very rude in the front! I wish I could say that I'll never go back there, but here in Alice we don't have very many choices and since the gas prices are zooming it would be hard to take a drive to Kingsville or Corpus just for a doctor's appointment.
The people here are fantastic. The PAs found a rare early onset cancer and literally saved my life. The wait is a little long because the office is in demand, but they have on-premise labs for convenience and a comfortable waiting area with TVs. The office is also pretty well cooled, so if you get cold easily bring a light jacket or shawl. Also, it's near the hospital if you need more advanced care there, you know your doctor and his team are close by.
